Reference
Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
17 june 2019 - 04 July 2019
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.9 (Flash-Point)
Version / remarks:
2016
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: ASTM D7094: “Standard Test Method for Flash Point by Modified Continuously Closed Cup (MCCCFP) Tester”
Version / remarks:
2012
Deviations:
not specified
Principles of method if other than guideline:
remark of reviewer:
Although ASTM D7094 (modified continuously closed cup) is not mentioned in the EC A.9 guideline, this method is a commonly used and safer (low sample volume) alternative for the ISO 2719 Pensky-Martens closed cup method.
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
non-equilibrium method closed cup
Flash point apparatus:
other: Eraflash (Eralytics, Austria)
Dynamic viscosity of test material:
no data
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Boiling temperature: 245.8 °C
Key result
Flash point:
103 °C
Atm. press.:
1 013 hPa

Test 1: 103°C

Test 2: 105°C

As the difference between the results is ≤ 6°C, the lowest flash point value obtained was reported as the flash point of the substance.

Interpretation of results:
other: not classified under CLP or GHS
Conclusions:
The flash point of the substance was determined to be 103°C (at 1013 hPa).
Executive summary:

The flash point of the substance was determined using the modified continuously closed cup ASTM D7094 method (GLP study). The flash point was determined in duplicate obtaining a lowest value of 103°C (at 1013 hPa).

Description of key information

Flash point: 103°C (ASTM D7094: modified continuously closed cup)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
103 °C
