Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Acute Toxicity: inhalation
Administrative data
- Endpoint:
- acute toxicity: inhalation
- Data waiving:
- study scientifically not necessary / other information available
- Justification for data waiving:
- the study does not need to be conducted because exposure of humans via inhalation is not likely taking into account the vapour pressure of the substance and/or the possibility of exposure to aerosols, particles or droplets of an inhalable size
- Justification for type of information:
- JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
According to conditions described in Column 2 of Section 8.5.2 of Annex VIII testing by the inhalation route is appropriate if exposure to humans via inhalation is likely taking into account the vapour pressure of the substance and/or the possibility of exposure to aerosols, particles or droplets of an inhalable size. As SHR 1396 is only used in hermetically sealed compressors there is no exposure scenario in which substantial human exposure by inhalation to of SHR 1396 will occur. Also SHR 1396 is a liquid substance with a low vapor pressure (9.5 Pa at 25°C) and thus exposure by inhalation of a vapor is unlikely to occur. Since the criteria in Column 2 of Section 8.5.2 are not fulfilled testing by the inhalation route for SHR 1396 is considered not appropriate and thus testing is waived.
