Simulation tests investigating the biodegradation of Reaction mass of dipotassium 2-(3,4-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl) succinate and dipotassium 2-(4,5-dimethy-1H-pyrazol-1-yl) succinate in water and sediment are not available. Read-across data available for the conjugate acid Reaction mass of 2-(3,4-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)succinic acid and 2-(4,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)succinic acid determined no biodegradation in a study following OECD 301A. Based on this result, the degradation of the target substance in surface waters is expected to be very slow. A transformation test in soil, available for the conjugate acid, determined a rapid degradation of the substance and its metabolite (half-life < 10 d, OECD 307). According to Annex IX, column 2 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, simulation testing in water and sediment does not need to be conducted as the Chemical Safety Assessment does not indicate a need for further investigations. According to Annex XI, Section 3 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 simulation tests in water and sediment are considered not necessary. The release rates to wastewater during the lifecycle of the substance are negligible. The environmental exposure assessment for the substance indicates no risk for the aquatic and sediment compartment (all RCR< 1; please refer to Chapter 9 and 10 of the Chemical Safety Report for detailed information).
