Description of key information

The study (Determination of the toxicity of Hydratropic Alcohol against Desmodesmus subspicatus according to OECD 201 resp. EU C.3) was performed using 5 concentrations ranging from 1.0 to 100 mg/L (nominal).

Significant inhibition of algal growth was observed at the 2 highest concentrations 32 mg/L and 100 mg/L. The EC50 (growth rate) for hydratropic alcohol was determined being 213.41 mg/L, whereas the EC50 based on yield was found being 32.13 mg/L. The NOEC was set to 10 mg/L in this study for both, growth rate and yield.
