Description of key information

The study of Peither (2002), investigating the acute toxicity of T002102 to microorganisms according to OECD guideline 209, was considered as the key study for endpoint coverage. The 3-h EC50 was 774 mg/L. The 3-h NOEC was 167 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
774 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
167 mg/L

Additional information

One key study investigating the toxicity to aquatic microorganisms was available (Peither, 2002). This study exposed activated sludge of predominantly domestic sewage to a series of test substance concentrations (10, 32, 100, 320 and 1000 mg/l) during 3 hours in a static test design, at a temperature of 20°C. According to the pre-test, the test item was soluble at a concentration of at least 5 g/L in tap water. The criteria for a valid test were fulfilled. The inhibitory effect of the test item T002102 on the respiration rate of aerobic wastewater microorganisms of activated sludge resulted in a 3-h EC50 of 774 mg/L (515-1462 mg/L 95 % confidence limits). The 3-h NOEC was determined to be 167 mg/L (93-248 mg/L 95% confidence limits).
