In a study according to the slightly modified OECD (301D), EU and ISO guidelines under GLP Fyrolflex RDP was found to be readily biodegradable in a closed bottle test (61% degradation in 28 days, Van Ginkel 2007, key study).

As RDP was found to be readily biodegradable, other (bio)degradability studies in water, sediment and soil are waived.

In a theoretical exercise, the proposed biodegradation pathway and kinetics of Fyrolflex RDP were discussed. It has been suggested that resorcinol and phenol would accumulate during the biodegradation of Fyrolflex RDP. However, under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions it is highly improbable that resorcinol and phenol will accumulate during the (bio)degradation process of Fyrolflex RDP.
