In a guideline-compliant study, conducted to GLP, platinum(II) tetraammine diacetate was found to be not highly flammable. In the preliminary test, although charring and smouldering were observed, the burning failed to propagate 100 mm within the time limit (4 minutes), and a main test was therefore not carried out.

Preliminary screening test.
In the preliminary test, about 30 g of the test item was used to form the test pile (excess substance included). Within the flame application time of two minutes, to one end of the pile, charring and smouldering of the substance was observed. This zone was propagating very slowly. After approximately 12 minutes and approximately 10 mm, the reaction extinguished. Because of this result (propagation time > 4 minutes for 100 mm) the main test was not deemed necessary and the test item was assessed to be not highly flammable.
Description of key information
In a guideline-compliant study, conducted to GLP, platinum(II) tetraammine diacetate was found to be not highly flammable.
