Description of key information

The substance has a high flash point (87°C) and a boiling point of 232.5°C not indicating flammability. With regards to flammability in contact with water, the structural features of the substance were evaluated and it was concluded that the substance does not contain groups that might lead to the evolution of a dangerous amount of flammable gas when coming into contact with water or damp air (see also ECHA guidance R.7.1.10.8, 2014). No metals, transition metals, boron or silicon are present. Also, handling during the water solubility test confirms this conclusion.

With regards to pyrophoric properties, evaluation of the structural features of the substance revealed that the substance does not contain any chemical group that might lead to spontaneous ignition a short time after coming into contact with air (ECHA guidance R.7.1.10.5, 2014).

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the flash point of 87 ˚C and the boiling point of 232.5˚C, it's stability in air and water and that the molecular structure of the substance does not contain groups that indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties, classification in accordance with EU CLP (EC 1272/2008 and its amendments) is not necessary.
