First-aid measures

DESCRIPTION OF FIRST AID MEASURES

- General advice

If you feel unwell, seek medical advice (show the label where possible).

Ensure that medical personnel are aware of the material(s) involved, and take precautions to protect themselves.

Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance

- Protection of first-aiders

First Aid responders should pay attention to self-protection, and use the recommended personal protective equipment when the potential for exposure exists.

- If inhaled

Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Call a POISON CENTRE or doctor/physician if you feel unwell.

- In case of skin contact

Remove contaminated clothing. Wash with plenty of soap and water.

If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

- In case of eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.

Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.

- If swallowed

Call a physician or poison control centre immediately. Rinse mouth. Do not induce vomiting without advice from poison control center. If vomiting occurs, keep head low so that stomach content doesn't get into the lungs. Do not use mouth-to-mouth method if victim ingested the substance.

Induce artificial respiration with the aid of a pocket mask equipped with a one-way valve or other proper respiratory medical device.

MOST IMPORTANT SYMPTOMS AND EFFECTS, BOTH ACUTE AND DELAYED

Severe eye irritation. Symptoms may include stinging, tearing, redness, swelling, and blurred vision. May cause respiratory irritation. Skin irritation.

May cause redness and pain.

INDICATION OF ANY IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION AND SPECIAL TREATMENT NEEDED

Provide general supportive measures and treat symptomatically. Keep victim warm. Keep victim under observation. Symptoms may be delayed.

Fire-fighting measures

- Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:   Water fog. Foam. Dry chemical powder. Carbon dioxide (CO2).

Unsuitable extinguishing media:   Water. Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire.

- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Specific hazards during firefighting:   During fire, gases hazardous to health may be formed.

Hazardous combustion products:   Carbon oxides, Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

- Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipmentfor firefighters:   Self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire.

Specific extinguishing methods:   Use standard firefighting procedures and consider the hazards of other involved materials.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

- Use personal protective equipment.

- Follow safe handling advice and personal protective equipment recommendations.

Environmental precautions       :

- Discharge into the environment must be avoided.

- Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

- Retain and dispose of contaminated wash water.

- Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

- Sweep up or vacuum up spillage and collect in suitable container for disposal.

- Local or national regulations may apply to releases and disposal of this material, as well as those materials and items employed in the cleanup of releases. You will need to determine which regulations are applicable.

Handling and storage

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING

Technical Measures:   See Engineering measures under EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION section.

Local/Total ventilation:   Use with local exhaust ventilation.

Advice on safe handling:

- Do not get on skin or clothing.

- Do not swallow.

- Do not get in eyes.

- Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice, based on the results of the workplace exposure assessment.

- Keep container tightly closed.

- Keep away from water.

- Protect from moisture.

- Take care to prevent spills, waste and minimize release to the environment.

Hygiene measures:   Ensure that eye flushing systems and safety showers are located close to the working place. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use.

CONDITIONS FOR SAFE STORAGE, INCLUDING ANY INCOMPATIBILITIES

Requirements for storage areas and containers:

- Keep in properly labelled containers. Store locked up. Keep tightly closed.

- Store in accordance with the particular national regulations.

Advice on common storage:

- Do not store with the following product types:

- Water

- Amines

- Alcohols

- Recommended storage temperature       <=180℃

Exposure controls / personal protection

CONTROL PARAMETERS

Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.

EXPOSURE CONTROLS

Engineering measures:

- Processing may form hazardous compounds.

- Minimize workplace exposure concentrations.

- Use with local exhaust ventilation.

Personal Protective Equipment

Eye protection:   Face shield is recommended. Wear safety glasses with side shields (or goggles).

Hand protection:

Material  -  Chemical-resistant gloves

Remarks:

- Choose gloves to protect hands against chemicals depending on the concentration and quantity of the hazardous substance and specific to place of work.

- Breakthrough time is not determined for the product.

- Change gloves often! For special applications, we recommend clarifying the resistance to chemicals of the aforementioned protective gloves with the glove manufacturer.

- Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Skin and body protection:

- Select appropriate protective clothing based on chemical resistance data and an assessment of the local exposure potential.

- Skin contact must be avoided by using impervious protective clothing (gloves, aprons, boots, etc).

Respiratory protection:

- Use respiratory protection unless adequate local exhaust ventilation is provided or exposure assessment demonstrates that exposures are within recommended exposure guidelines.

- Filter type: Particulates type (P)

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity:

Not classified as a reactivity hazard.

Chemical stability:

Stable under normal conditions.

Possibility of hazardous reactions:

Hazardous reactions - Reacted with amines and alcohol and causes high temperature.

Conditions to avoid:

Conditions to avoid - In high-temperature and humidity conditions.

Incompatible materials:

Materials to avoid - Keep away from acid, ammonia, water

Hazardous decomposition products:

Contact with water or humid air. - Toxic gases like carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides may be generated by combustion or high temperature.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Product:

- Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.

- According to the European Waste Catalogue, Waste Codes are not product specific, but application specific.

- Waste codes should be assigned by the user, preferably in discussion with the waste disposal authorities.

Contaminated packaging:

- Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal.

- If not otherwise specified: Dispose of as unused product.
