Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conc. based on:
test mat. (total fraction)
Incubation duration:
96 h
Temp.:
23 °C
pH:
8.4
Remarks on result:
other: solublity of the whole substance
Details on results:
The water test samples have been measured via UPLC-DAD-MS and evaluated in negative ESI-MS mode. The three component groups Abietic Acid, Pimaric Acid and Isomers / Dehydroabietic Acid / Oxidation Products have been detected and quantified.
The measured concentrations of the different component groups did not show strong differences between day 3 and 4 of the water solubility test (< 0.2% deviation for Abietic Acid, Pimaric Acid and Isomers; 9.2% deviation for Dehydroabietic Acid and 2.3% deviation for the Oxidation Products ). These are acceptable deviations to derive that the concentration is constant (less than 15% difference between flasks according to the OECD 105 guideline).

The average result of 3 days and 4 days test samples was calculated and is given with the average pH value in the following:

The water solubility of Resin acids and Rosin acids, Barium salts after 4 days tests was determined as:
Water solubility after 4 days: 554.5 mg/L*

*sum of soluble components:
Abietic Acid, Pimaric Acid and Isomers: 12.4 mg/L
Dehydroabietic Acid: 12.3 mg/L
Oxidation Products: 529.8 mg/L
pH: 8.4
Room temperature : 23.0°C

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The water solubility of the detectable components A(bietic Acid, Pimaric Acid and Isomers and Dehydroabietic Acid:) was determined to be 554.5 mg/L at 23°C and at pH 8.4.
