Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria

Description of key information
There are two studies available for toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria for triisopropylsilyl acrylate. The Algal Growth Inhibition Test using Scenedesmus subspicatus (reliability of 1, according to the scoring system of Klimisch et al., 1997) gave the 72-hour EC50 value in growth rate of 0.070 mg/l, whereas the algal study using Selenastrum capricornutm Printz (reliability of 4) gave the 72-hour EC50 value in cell density of 0.46 mg/L.
The concentrations used in the S. capricornutm study (geometric series of 0.31, 0.63, 1.3, 2.5 and 5.0 mg/l) was much higher than those in the S. subspicatus study (geometric mean measured test concentration series of 0.000062, 0.00010, 0.0037, 0.014, 0.044 and 0.11 mg/l) and there is a concern with the reliability of the data.

The concentrations used in the S. capricornutm study was much higher than those in the S. subspicatus study and there is a concern with the reliability of the data, addressed in the migrated SNIF#001-5.5.00-01.
The Algal Growth Inhibition Test using S. subspicatus is more relevant to be submitted as a key study of this endpoint, because of the quality of the relevant results as well as the dose selection in the study.
