Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove casualty from exposure ensuring one's own safety

whilst doing so. If unconscious, check for breathing and

apply artificial respiration if necessary. Transfer to

hospital as soon as possible.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Bathe the eye with running water for 15 minutes. Transfer to

hospital for specialist examination.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove all contaminated clothes and footwear immediately

unless stuck to skin. Drench the affected skin with running

water for 10 minutes or longer if the substance is still on

skin. Transfer to hospital if there are burns or symptoms of

poisoning.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Extinguish using water spray, carbon dioxide, alcohol or

polymer foam or dry chemical powder.

Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a

fire, evolving noxious fumes (eg carbon oxides and hydrogen

chloride vapour). However, there is no experimental evidence

to support the anticipated combustion products.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing

apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to

the relevant national or international standards as

mentioned in section 2.3.10.

Avoid dust formation and contain the spillage area using

bunding. Absorb spillages of solutions with a suitable inert

material (eg damp sawdust). Carefully transfer the spillage

to a closable, labelled salvage container. Containers filled

with waste material must be labelled in the same way as the

original containers.

Clean the spillage area with large amounts of water.

Dispose of waste material by incineration in accordance with

local regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used in

conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with

any local regulations in order to avoid exposure.

Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the

substance.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled

appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.

Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate

international or national standards as follows;

Chemical protective gloves to Standard EN374

Chemical resistant clothing to Standard EN368

Eye protection to Standard EN166

When necessary appropriate respiratory protection should be

used. e.g. a dust mask conforming to EN149 FFP1.

The standards mentioned above should be regarded as a

minimum.

Storage: Store in a cool well ventilated area at ambient temperature.

Avoid incompatible materials and conditions.

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 25 kg fibreboard kegs with separate polythene inners.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Avoid contact with strong oxidising agents and excessive

heat.

Chemical reaction with water: None known.

Dust explosion: There is a potential dust explosion hazard for this

organometallic powder.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: In principle, it may be possible to recycle material in

normal usage.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The notification tests have shown that the substance is not

considered hazardous to health or the environment.

The potential dust explosion hazard will be minimised by the

use of appropriate controls.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions should not

normally be disposed of by landfill.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance, contaminated containers or spillages of

solutions can be disposed of by incineration by burning

under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment

processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases

should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes (eg carbon oxides

and hydrogen chloride vapours) could be formed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to

the sewage system or the aqueous environment.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not be made available to the public.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: The substance will not be made available to the public.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance will not be made available to the public.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance will not be made available to the public.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance will not be made available to the public.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: The substance will not be made available to the public.
