Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The long-term sediment toxicity of isodecyl benzoate as measured by emergence of Chironomus riparius was evaluated in a freshwater-sediment toxicity test using spiked sediment. A 28 -d EC50 (emergence rate) of 269 mg/kg dw and NOEC (emergence) of 64.7 mg/kg dw were determined based on measured concentration in sediment. This study was considered acceptable and satisfies all guideline validity requirements.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 or LC50 for freshwater sediment:
269 mg/kg sediment dw
EC10, LC10 or NOEC for freshwater sediment:
64.7 mg/kg sediment dw

Additional information

The registered substance produced a 28 -d NOEC of 64.7 mg/kg dw with the midge larvae, Chironomus riparius. Supporting information is provided by a Q(SAR) estimated chronic toxicity value of 112 mg/kg dw for Lumbriculus variegatus, a second sediment species representing different living and feeding conditions.
