Additional information

The water solubility of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guidelines OECD 105, EU Method A.6 and EPA OPPTS 830.7840 under GLP conditions using the column elution method.

A solution with an absolute test material quantity of 42.1 mg was prepared in methanol. Once the test material was loading into the column, double distilled water was pumped through the column until it was completely filled. The system was allowed to equilibrate for two hours. The system was subsequently stabilised overnight using a flow rate of 12 mL/hour.

After the stabilisation period, the column was eluted with double distilled water at a flow rate of 24 mL/hour and samples taken; the flow was then halved to 12 mL/hour and samples taken. One day later the flow was halved to 6 mL/hour and samples taken.

The pH was measured from the water fractions that were collected for the determination of the flow rates. The eluates were checked for the presence of undissolved particles using a turbidimeter.

The experiment was also performed using a column filled with blank carrier material. The procedure was identical to the procedure used for the column loaded with test material. At each flow rate, two consecutive samples were taken for analyses. The column elution method was performed at 19.9 ± 0.3 °C.

Under the conditions of this study, the water solubility of the test material was determined to be 0.00589 g/L at 20 °C and pH 7.1 to 7.8.
