Details on results:
Emuldur 3643 achieved a maximum degree of biodegradation 5 ±5% CO2/ThCO2
(mean of two replicates ±SD, one day after acidification) after an exposure period of
28 days.
Because the test substance is a UVCB, the criterion of the ten days window was not applied
in the evaluation of results.
The test substance did not reach 10% biodegradation even by the end of incubation, so
there is no adaptation period and 10-day window applicable in this test. A classification of
ready biodegradability is therefore not applicable.
Emuldur 3643 can therefore be evaluated as not readily biodegradable in this carbon
dioxide evolution test, based on the quantitative determination of the formed carbon dioxide
in the test substance assays by comparison with the calculated maximal theoretical carbon
dioxide production.
Based on the rate of biodegradation of 5% CO2/ThCO2 at the end of exposure, the Emuldur
3643 can be further evaluated as poorly biodegradable in this test.
