The last five measured values were used to calculate the mean value of the surface tension for each determination. In the table below these measured data together with the corresponding test time and the mean values are summarized. All measured values are automatically corrected according to Harkins-Jordan by the application software. The mean value of each determination is finally rounded to two decimals by the software.

The age of the test solutions at the beginning of the measurement was 15 minutes for the first test solution and 16 minutes for the second test solution. The age of the test solution is defined as the period of time from the preparation of the 90% saturated solution to the recording of the the surface tension value.

Finally the surface tension is rounded to one decimal:

Final result (surface tension of Pencycuron):  72.1 mN/m

The surface tension of an aqueous solution (90%-saturated) of Pencycuron (NTN 19701) at 20.0 ± OSC was 72.1 mN/m.

Conclusions:
The surface tension of an aqueous solution (90%-saturated)of Pencycuron at 20.0 ± 0.5°Cwas 72.1 mN/m.
Executive summary:

The surface tension of an aqueous solution of Pencycuron was determined according to EC-guideline 92/69/EG A.5, Surface tension, ring method. Two 90%-saturated solutions of the testitem in bidistilled water were prepared. After each solution had been filled into the vessel of thetensiometer and tempered to test temperature, the measuring procedure was begun and repeateduntil the value of surface tension remained nearly constant.

The surface tension of each test solution was calculated from the arithmetic mean of the last fivemeasured values. Each measuring value is considering the correction according to Harkins-Jordan.The average of both determinations multiplied with the calibration factor of the tensiometer is finallyrounded to one decimal place.

The surface tension of an aqueous solution (90%-saturated)of Pencycuron at 20,0 ± 0.5°C was 72,1 mN/m.

Description of key information
