Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate with much water and seek medical advice to

minimise staining of eyeball

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash well with soap and water

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Symptomatic treatment

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: No special risks; any usual extinguishing agent can be

used. Nitrogen oxides, HCl fumes and possibly soot likely

to be evolved.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Sweep up (or if in solution, absorb on inert material) and

incinerate or dump on suitable site.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not practical from used dyebath liquor; but the

contaminated dyestuff could be purified by

recrystallisation

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no known hazardous effects

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Possible in a properly regulated landfill disposal site

insulated so as to prevent leaching, providing all local

and other regulations are obeyed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Possible for dry substance; dilute liquor can be first

sprayed into domestic refuse and then burnt. Acidic fumes

may be formed and the plant should be equipped to deal with

these.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not biodegradable by short- residence aerobic treatment but

such dyestuffs are usually largely removed by being

absorbed onto the sludge or by precipitation (40%).

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from dyed paper is not feasible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no known hazardous effects.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Dyed paper can be disposed of with normal domestic waste.
