Description of key information

1-((2-Butyloctyloxymethyl)-2-(3,4-dihydro-isoquinolinium-2-y l)ethyl)sulfate was tested for its acute toxicity to Daphnia magna according to OECD guideline 202 and EU method C.2. The 48 hour EC50 value was > 3.73 mg/L based on the mean of analytically determined concentrations.

1-((2-Butyloctyloxymethyl)-2-(3,4-dihydro-isoquinolinium-2-y l)ethyl)sulfate was tested for its acute toxicity to Daphnia magna according to OECD guideline 202 and EU method C.2. Groups of five daphnias were exposured to test item at the measured analytical concentrations of 0 (control), 0.146, 0.285, 0.624, 1.33, 2.58, 3.73 mg/L. The test was performed in concentrations up to the limit of solubility of the test substance in water. The test concentrations were selected on the basis of the non-GLP range finding part of the study. The water solubility of the test substance is 2.5 mg/L (20°C). The initial concentrations of the saturated solution was 4.45 mg/L and thus above the water solubility of 2.5 mg/L. During the 48 h testing period a marked decrease of the test concentrations to 50 – 79 % of the initial concentrations was observed. Therefore the results are based on the mean of the analytically determined concentrations of the exposure period. The mean of the highest tested concentration (3.73 mg/L) is still above the water solubility of the test substance (2.5 mg/L). The following effect concentrations (mg/L) were obtained based on mean measured concentrations:

EC100 (48 h) > 3.73 mg/L.
