Guidance on Safe Use

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush with water for at least 30 minutes with the eye lids
open. Get medical attention if eye irritation develops or
persists.
Emergency measure - Skin: Irritating to skin. Wash with soap and water. Remove
contaminated clothing. Get medical attention if irritation
develops. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse and
discard shoes and other leather articles saturated with the
material.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. If conscious give 2 glasses of
water. Seek immediate medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Product arising from burning: CO2, NOx and other toxic fumes, gases or vapours
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Use nitrile or neoprene gloves ans safety glasses. Long
sleeve shirt is recommended, ans under normal use conditions
a respirator is not required. Self-contained breathing
apparatus recommended in confined space and other poorly
ventilated areas or during firefighting procedures.
Accidental release measures
similar oil resistent gloves are appropriate. Ventilate area
if spilled in confined space or other poorly ventilated
areas. Prevent entry into sewers and waterways. Pick up free
liquid for recycle and/or disposal. Residual liquid can be
absorbed on inert material.
Handling and storage
thoroughly after handling.
Storage: No special storage precautions required.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The material is not regulated by ADR, RID, ADN, ICAO, IMDG
or IATA. A UN 1Al drum is recommended but not required.

Stability and reactivity
Chemical reaction with water: There is no chemical reaction with water.
Dust explosion: Not applicable, because substance is a liquid.
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Any hazardous effects cannot be eliminated by
neutralization, hydrolysis or other simple chemical means.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The material may be incinerated.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The public is not exposed to this material per se. It is
used in an automatic transmission fluid (ATF). These fluids
are generally "factory fill for life". The ATF is never or
very rarely changed during the life cycle of an automobile.
Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: In a fully formulated automotive lubricant, any hazards from
the new chemical are greatly reduced by its dilution in the
base fluid, e.g., mineral oil. However, any automotive
lubricant should be handled carefully and with proper hand
and eye protection.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The new chemical is used in automotive lubricants. All spent
automotive lubricants should be disposed of properly.
(e.g., in "tips" at local collection sites.)
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The new or used automotive lubricant may be incinerated.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Automotive lubricants should not be disposed of in waterways
or water treatment plants. They should be sent for
recycling or for disposal at local collection sites.
