Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Get medical aid immediately.

Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If
not breathing, give artificial respiration.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Get medical aid immediately.

DO NOT allow victim to rub or keep eyes closed. Extensive
irrigation with water is required for at least 30 minutes.
Emergency measure - Skin: Get medical aid immediately.

Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash
clothing before reuse.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Get medical aid immediately.

DO NOT induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert,
give 2-4 cupfuls of milk and water. Never give anything by
mouth to an unconscious person.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Recommended extinguishing agents: dry chemical, CO2 and
alcohol resistant foam. The substance is hygroscopic, it may
pick up water.

Unsuitable extingushing agents: None specified.

Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a
fire, evolving noxious fumes (eg carbon, nitrogen and
sulphur oxides).

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.

Fight the fire from a safe distance or protected location.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to
the relevant national or international standards. Absorb
spillages of solutions with a suitable inert material (eg.
vermiculite, sand or earth).

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used under
conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with
any local regulations in order to avoid exposure by skin
contact and inhalation.

The printer is entirely closed and has its own filters,
engineering controls such as local exhausr ventilation and
respiratory protective equipment should not be neded under
normal conditions of use.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled
appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn,
e.g. chemical suit, goggles, wellington boots and chemical
resistant gloves. Such protective equipment should conform
to the appropriate international or national standards.

Furthermore, when respiratory protective equipment has to be
used, it must be capable of adequately controlling
exposure, be suitable for the purpose, and conform to the
appropriate international or national standards.

Storage: Store container in a cool dry location, away from extreme
heat and water. (Salt is hygroscopic.)

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The ink, containg the substance, is packaged in cartridges
and printheads, which are individually packaged in thin
cardboard boxes that just fit the size of the cartridges and
printheads.

These boxes are palletised and imported into the EU.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Keep away from strong oxidisers; alkali.

Chemical reaction with water: None which is hazardous.

Dust explosion: Under normal conditions of use this material does not
present a significant explosion hazard. However, like most
organic compounds it is combustible and may form a dust
explosion if widely dispersed in air.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Discharge to the environment will be minimal. Recovery from
minor spillages or accidental discharge is not economically
or technically feasible, and such waste material will be
disposed of by incineration or landfill. In principle, it
may be possible to recover larger spillages of
uncontaminated material for subsequent use.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The notification tests have shown that the substance is not
classified.

The dust hazard will be minimised by appropriate handling

and storage.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with
inert material (eg. sand or soil) may be disposed of by
landfill at an authorised tip in accordance with local
regulations, although disposal by incineration is preferred.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning
under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment
processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases
should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes (eg. carbon,
nitrogen and sulphur oxides) could be formed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to
the sewage system or the aqueous environment. However,
adverse effects on sewage treatment systems would be
unlikely.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None specified.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.
