- Exponential growth in the control (for algal test): yes
- Observation of abnormalities (for algal test): no
- Any stimulation of growth found in any treatment: no

Reported statistics and error estimates:
William's Test showed no statistically inhibition of growth in comparison with control group was 0.41 mg/lfor the 0-72 hour AUC and 0.41 mg/l for the 0-72 hour growth rate. Bartlett's test was significant for AUC (P=0.039) and not significant for growth rate(p=0.090).

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
The substance is toxic to algae under the conditions used concerning the biomass parameter.
Executive summary:

An Algal Growth Inhibition test was performed with the test substance PD 132408 (BIBEA) according to OECD 201 with Selenastrum capricornutum. Triplicate algal cultures were exposed to eight test concentrations, nominally ranging from 0.022 to 4.6 mg/l, plus a untreated control and a solvenmt control (100 µl auxiliary solvent pert litre). Cultures were incubated under continuous illuminattion at 24 +/- 1 °C for 72 hours. Cell numbers wre counted daily to moniotor growth. The test showed a NOEC of 0.41 mg/l and a EC50 of 2.0 mg/l (biomass) and an EC50 of > 4.2 mg/l (growth rate). All validity criteria were met. The substance is toxic for the algae used under the conditions used.
