Additional information

Norbornene has shown practically no ready biodegradation. This is confirmed by a non-standard experiment on inherent biodegradation. Model calculations (BioHCwin v1.01) showed a hydrocarbon half-life of 23.9 days.

The experimental log Koc of 2.273 and model calculations on fugacity show a low tendency to adhere to soil, the primary compartment will be water. Mass percentages calculated for air (ca. 0.2%) and sediment (ca.0.9%) show no significant contributions to these compartments. Volatilisation from water was calculated with a half-lif of 1h or 4d respectively (river or lake model).

The efficiency of waste water treatment was calculated to be ca. 95% with removal to air contributing ca. 77%

atmospheric oxidation via hydoxyl radicals or ozone reaction was calculated to proceed rapidly with half-lifes of ca. 2h.
