No PNEC value can be determined due to the insolubility of pleonaste in water. The solubility of aluminium and iron in the Pleonaste spinel is < 0.05 mg/l. The mean metal baseline concentration in European surface waters for aluminium is 0.075 mg/l and 268 mg/l for iron respectively (FOREGS Geochemical Baseline Program (FGBB):
