Description of key information

The log Pow of 2-chloropropionic acid is 0.82 at pH 1

Additional information

The log Pow has been measured using the shake flask method according to OECD 107 and was found to be 0.82 at pH 1 and at 20.5 °C. This is a recently conducted study by the registrant and is regarded as a key study.

An additional secondary reliable source reports a value is 0.76 although no pH or temperature are presented.

Additional reported values are < -2.4 and 0.65 at pH 3 and 7.2 respectively and the log Pow has also been modelled using the incremental method of Rekker and was found to be 0.854. However, the actual measured values are considered to be of greater reliability than the modelled value.

It is considered that the shake flask result according to OECD 107 is the most reliable result and so this is taken as the key value.
