Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

BMS 587172 -01 is not readily biodegradable as the material attained 14% degradation after 28 days in the CO2 evolution test.

Hydrolysis as a function of pH of the substance could not be determined due to the low water solubility of the substanceof 11.2 µg/L. It is confirmed in the OECD 111 and EC C.7 guidelines that the hydrolysis study may be difficult to conduct with substances of minimal solubility in water. The study was performed at a concentration half the water solubility. There is no analytical method available that is sensitive enough for quantification of the hydrolysis samples as the hydrolysis study was therefore performed at a nominal concentration of 5.61 µg/L. The concentrations were determined using an analytical method that was not sensitive enough to determine the concentations of the hydrolysis samples accurately. The Tier 1 results should be regarded as indicative. A Tier 2 study was therefore not conducted.

The following indicative results were obtained from the preliminary test: decrease in concentration of > 10% at pH 7 and pH 9 after 5 days and an increase in concentration after 5 days at pH 4. This is below the LOQ of the analytical method (0.1 mg/L in water).

The log Koc was determined to be 5.15 (Koc= 1.4E05).
