Description of key information
DMPA showed no genotoxicity in all available in vitro studies. No carcinogenic potential is expected.
However, under certain conditions there is a potential risk of nitrosamine formation. Nitrosamines have been shown to be carcinogenic in animal studies.

available data are reliable and suitable for classification purposes

Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, as amended for the thirteenth time in
Regulation (EU) No 2018/1480.
