Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

There is no test performed with didecanoyl peroxide. The ready biodegradability of this substance is read-across from data obtained with dilauroyl peroxide.

The biotic degradability of dilauroyl peroxide was assessed in a GLP study according to OECD 301D, closed bottle test (Ginkel, 2011).Since the test substance is poorly soluble, it was first diluted in dichloromethane according to guidance document on difficult to test substances (OECD, 2000). The study is reliable and validity criteria were met. Dilauroyl peroxide did not cause a reduction in the endogenous respiration. The test substance is therefore considered to be non-inhibitory to the inoculum. Dilauroyl peroxide was biodegraded 80% at day 28 in the Closed Bottle test. Over 60% biodegradation was achieved in a period of less than 8 days immediately following the attainment of 10% biodegradation. Hence this substance should be classified as readily biodegradable. Further studies on degradation are therefore not considered necessary.
