Description of key information

The analysis of Acacia mearnsi extract, indicated acute toxicity to Pimephales promelas with a LC50 (96h) of 67.1 mg/L, under test conditions.
However, this substance is not classified, according to the criteria given in Annex I of Regulation EC/1272/2008, as hazardous aquatic acute nor chronic.

Additional information

Two experimental studies are available on Acacia mearnsi extract, realised according to inernational standard. In both studies at respective doses 156 mg/L and 270 ppm there is 100% mortality of the fishes.

However, this substance should not be classified, according to the criteria given in Annex I of Regulation 1272/2008/EC, as hazardous aquatic acute nor chronic because the EC50 (96h) > 10 mg/L and the substance Acacia mearnsi extract is readily biodegradable.

As the GLP was not stated, these studies were quoted as reliability 2 according to Klimisch criteria.
