The requirement to test the substance for octanol-water partition coefficient is waived because in contact with water the substance rapidly hydrolyses to form 3-(dihydroxymethylsilyl)propylamine and ethanol. The log Kow of the substance and its silanol hydrolysis product has been calculated using a validated QSAR estimation method.

Ethanol has a measured log Kow of -0.3 (Hansch C 1995).
