Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Intravenous administration of EDTA-CaNa2 in rabbits resulted in an LD 50 value of 5544 mg/kg bw, and intraperitoneal administration in an LD50 value of 8893 mg/kg bw.
Executive summary:

On mice the toxicity of sodium and calcium salts of the meso-2,3 -diaminebutanetetraacetic (CaNa2 -DBTA), diethylenetriaminepentaacetic (CaNa3 -DTPA), and ethylenediaminetetraacetic (CaNa2 -EDTA) acids was determined. LD50 of CaNa2 -EDTA following i. v. injection is 5.54 g/kg bw, after i. p. injection, 8.89 g/kg bw, that of CaNa3 -DTPA after i. v. injection is 0.75 g/kg bw and of CaNa2 -DBTA after i. p. injection, 4.64 g/kg bw.
