Description of key information

The water solubility of cyclohexylbenzene was experimentally determined to be 7.4 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
7.4 mg/L

Additional information

The key study assessing the water solubility is a recent and well documented experiment according to OECD and GLP guidelines (Schneider, 2014). In this study, the water solubility of cyclohexylbenzene is examined by the flask method, as it had been demonstrated that the column eluation method did not yield reliable results due to adsorption of the test substance to the glass surface of the equipment. The concentrations of the test item in the diluted clear aqueous phases were determined by HPLC.

The water solubility of phenylcyclohexane at 20°C and at a pH of 5.8 was found to be 7.4 mg/L with a relative standard deviation of 1.8%.

The available supporting studies are in line with the findings of the key study.
