Based on the test results of OECD 301 studies, conducted with the read-across substances Sorbitan stearate (CAS No. 1338-41-6) and Anhydro-D-glucitol trioleate (CAS No. 26266-58-0), Sorbitan tristearate (CAS No. 26658-19-5) can be regarded as readily biodegradable. The substance is thus expected to be rapidly degraded by microorganisms in both the aquatic and terrestrial environments, therefore in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, 9.2.1.2 – 9.2.1.4, further simulation testing for water and sediment or soil biodegradation tests are not necessary.
