Description of key information

The Kow value was calculated to 0.19 at 23°C, from the ratio of solubility in water and in octanol.

Additional information

The Pow value was calculated from the ratio between the observed solubilities the test substance in octanol and water. The ratio is presented as a logarithmic value. The recovery was calculated from the sum of the mass found in the water phase and the octanol phase divided by the initial concentration. The experiment was performed in three replicate bottles and these were sampled after 168, 190, 212 and 237 hours, i.e lg Pow was determined for 12 samples. The lowest observed lg Pow was 0.06 and the highest was 0.3. The lg Pow of 0.19 is the weighted average of all observed data. The solubility in water was determined at a pH of 5. Both the solubility in water and octanol were determined at a temperature of 22 -23 °C. The validity of the data was confirmed by that; All phases were clear upon visual inspection, the recovery from the Hull flasks was 84-92% and that there is no correlation between measured values and time, or in other words, the attainment of equilibrium has been corroborated.
