Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 Annex VII section 7.13 Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH), the test on oxidising properties was waived as the chemical structure of the test item does not contain any functional groups quoted in 'Manual of Tests and Criteria' (fifth revised edition, appendix 6, chapter 6) which may indicate oxidizing properties. The test item was thus considered not oxidising. No experimental determination was carried out.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the structure of the molecule and taking into account the provisions laid down in Council Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation 1227/2008 (CLP), the test item does not have to be classified with respect to oxidising properties. In accordance with UN-Transport regulations Sodium dimethyl 5-sulphonatoisophthalate (SIM-Ester) has not to be classified as oxidising substance in Class 5 Division 5.1.
