Description of key information

Under the conditions of the present test CYASORB® UV-2908 Light Stabilizer induced no mortality or clinical effects in carp.
The 96 h LC50 was beyond the range tested, i.e. exceeded the concentration of 0.00045 mg/l (corresponds to half of the LOD).

Due to the very low solubility of CYASORB® UV-2908 Light Stabilizer in water, concentration levels that might be toxic to carp could not be reached.

Additional information

In the present study the toxicity of CYASORB® UV-2908 to fish was assessed according to OECD guideline No. 203 and GLP principles. Nominal exposure concentrations were the following:

Range-finding test: 0.1, 1.0, 10 and 100% of the filtrate prepared at 100 mg/l.

Limit test: 100% of the filtrate prepared at 100 mg/l.

The 96 h LC50 was >0.00045 mg/l (corresponds to half of the LOD). Due to the very low solubility of CYASORB® UV-2908 Light Stabilizer in water (<10 µg/l), concentration levels that might be toxic to carp could not be reached.

All criteria for acceptability of the test were met according to OECD guideline No. 203.
