Description of key information

Under the conditions of the present study the 48h EC50 for CYASORB® UV-2908 Light Stabilizer was beyond the range tested, i.e. exceeded 0.0025 mg/l (corresponds to half of the LOD). Due to the very low solubility of CYASORB® UV-2908 Light Stabilizer in water, concentration levels that might be toxic to Daphnia magna could not be reached.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In the present study the toxicity of CYASORB® UV-2908 to aquatic invertebrates was assessed according to OECD guideline No. 202 and GLP principles. Nominal exposure concentrations were the following: 0.1, 1.0, 10 and 100% of the filtrate prepared at 100 mg/l.

The 48 h EC50 was >0.0025 mg/l (corresponds to half of the LOD). Due to the very low solubility of CYASORB® UV-2908 Light Stabilizer in water (<10 µg/l), concentration levels that might be toxic to Daphnia magna could not be reached.

All criteria for acceptability of the test were met according to OECD guideline No. 202.
