Additional information

The lowest effect concentration for the test substance is the NOEC of 1.72 mg/L for daphnids based on reproduction during a 21-day reproduction study.  Since a full base set of acute aquatic test data is available, as well as the 21-day NOEC for reproduction of Daphnia magna and a 72-hour NOEC for growth rate of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, an assessment factor of 50 is appropriate for calculation of a PNEC aqua-freshwater. The Predicted No Effect Concentration for surface water is PNECwater= 0.0344 mg/L.

The test substance is a highly volatile compound that is not expected to bind to soil and emission to soil is unlikely during use.

Based on the physicochemical properties of the test substance and no expected emissions to sewage treatment plants, it was not considered useful to derive a PNECSTP.

Based on a log Kow < 3.0, limited potential for exposure and bioaccumulation and lack of classification for toxicological effects in mammals, it was not considered useful to derive a PNECoral.

Conclusion on classification

The substance is currently classified on Annex VI to the CLP regulation as harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effect (toxic chronic aquatic toxicity, category 3, H412). The substance is not readily biodegradable, and the lowest acute LC50 is 13 mg/l.
