Three acute toxicity studies were available for exposure to diisobutyl carbinol (DIBC) and included fish, daphnids and algae.

One acute toxicity study was available with fish that followed USEPA guidelines, GLPs and was rated a Klimisch score of 2. The study was a 96 -hour static exposure with the rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss and the resulting 72 and 96 -hour LC50 value was 28.6 mg DIBC/L. There was also a 48 -hr Daphnia magna study that followed OECD and USEPA guidelines. This study was considered reliable with a Klimisch rating of 2 and the 48 -hr EC50 value was reported as 47.8 mg/L. In addition, a 96 -hr algal study with Selenastrum capricornutum (now known as Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) was also available. This study conduct conformed to both OECD and USEPA guidelines, followed GLPs and was given a Klimisch rating of 2. The 72 -hr EC50 value for growth inhibiton was 19.62 mg/L, while the 96 -hr value was 29.95 mg DIBC/L.
