PBT assessment
Administrative data
PBT assessment: overall result
- Name:
- Phenyl Ethyl Acetate Boundary Composition
- Type of composition:
- boundary composition of the substance
- Reference substance:
- Phenyl Ethyl Acetate Boundary Composition
- Name:
- Phenyl Ethyl Acetate
- Type of composition:
- legal entity composition of the substance
- State / form:
- liquid
- Reference substance:
- Phenyl Ethyl Acetate
- PBT status:
- the substance is not PBT / vPvB
- Justification:
Phenylethyl acetate is not classified as a PBT or vP/vB substance based on the following information:
Persistance
Phenylethyl acetate was found to be 72 % degraded in an OECD 301F ready biodegradability test and the 10-day window was met. As such phneylethyl acetate is considered to be readily biodegradable and is therefore not considered to be a persistent substance.
Bioaccumulation
As the log Kow of phenylethyl acetate was found to be 2.4 in an OECD 117 study, it is unlikely that the substance will show any particular affinity for organic matter and is therfore will not bioaccumulate. As such, phenylethyl acetate is not considered to be bioaccumulative.
Toxicity
The lowest acute aquatic L(E)C50 for phenylethyl acetate was found to be 10.5 mg/L . As this value is >1mg/L and the substance is readily biodegradable, no classification is triggered according to EEC directive 79/831/EEC Annex VI, Part II (D) as described in Commission Directive 93/21/EEC or regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. No hazards for the environment have been identified. Further to this the substance is not classified as toxic to humans.
