Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Not readily biodegradable: 27.5-41.1% (CO2 evolution) in 28 days (OECD 301B)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study investigating the ready biodegradability of Fatty acids, C18 unsaturated, trimers, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS No. 173832-46-7) is available. The study was conducted according to OECD guideline 301B under GLP conditions using non-adapted activated sludge as inoculum (Desmares-Koopmans, 1997). Based on CO2 evolution mean degradation rates of 27.5% and 41.1% were observed after 28 days (for replicates 1 and 2, respectively). Hence, the substance is determined to be partly biodegradable.
