Description of key information

Substance decomposes before boiling (OECD 103). Because of high reactivity, the boiling point of the decomposition product (Exxal 8; alcohols C7-9-iso, C8-rich) is used as a key value in CSA.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
186 °C

Additional information

Boiling point was determined by differential scanning calorimetry, using guideline method OECD 103 in accordance with GLP. Boiling point was not observed below the temperature at which reaction and/or decomposition started. The boiling point was not reported in the key study report owing to decomposition of the test substance.

This substance is hydrolytically unstable. Because the rapid hydrolysis is the driving force in CSA, read-across data on the boiling point of Exxal 8 (alcohols, C7-9-iso, C8-rich) released from the substance is used as a key value in CSA.
