Description of key information

Testing is not technically feasible as substance is hydrolytically unstable. Therefore, the estimated water solubility of the main decomposition product is used in CSA.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
1 379 mg/L
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

Titanium tetra(octanolate), branched and linear is hydrolytically unstable. When it comes in contact with water or moisture, a complete hydrolysis will take place with no significant reaction products other than mixture of octyl alcohol isomers (Exxal 8) and hydrated titanium dioxide (key study on hydrolysis OECD 111). Water solubility of the main organic degradation product (Exxal 8, alcohols C7 -9 -iso, C8 -rich) is used as a key value in the CSA. The non-hazardous degradation product (hydrated titanium dioxide) is insoluble in water, and therefore not relevant to be further considered in CSA.
