Title:
Aqueous photolysis of the iron (iii) complexes of NTA, EDTA and DTPA
Author:
Svenson A et al.
Year:
1989

Materials and methods

Study type:
direct photolysis
Test guideline
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The rate of photolysis of iron complexes with complexing agent DTPA was analysed. Aqueous solution of the complex was illuminated in a Xenotest 1200. Using a sun spectrum from 60 Deg.N (Stockholm latitude), environmentally related half lifetimes were calculated.
GLP compliance:
not specified

N-carboxymethyliminobis(ethylenenitrilo)tetra(acetic acid)
Cas Number:
67-43-6
IUPAC Name:
N,N-bis{2-[bis(carboxymethyl)amino]ethyl}glycine
Details on test material:
- Name of test material (as cited in study report): DTPA

Buffers:
- pH: 7
- Composition of buffer:1 ml of trichloromethane and 3 ml potassium phosphate
Light source:
Xenon lamp
Details on light source:
Illuminated with Xenotest 1200 apparatus, Original Hanau
Details on test conditions:
Absorption spectra of the complexes were recorded in a Beckman DU-8 spectrophotometer. The incident light intensity was measured using a chemical actinometer composed of 10mM uranyl nitrate in 50mM oxalic acid. The oxalic acid concentration was analyzed in a total organic carbon-analyzer.
