DSC Method

Equipment: Mettler Toledo DSC 823e Temperature range: -60 °C up to 150 °C, heating rate: 10 K/min. Measured in Al pan with hole.

DSC Results

No melting point was observed down to -50 °C. The interpretation of the curve below this temperature is uncertain. A pour point test was therefore carried out to check whether the sample is liquid down to at least -20 °C.

Pour Point Test

Two samples were placed in screw-capped tubes and thermostatted for one hour at -20 °C. The tubes were briefly removed from the bath and held horizontally to observe whether the sample flowed.

The test shows that the pour point is -20 °C or lower.
