Description of key information

The 28-day EC15 and the 28-day EC50 for the development rate of males and females and for the arcsin-transformed emergence rate of pooled sexes are >1000 mg/kg dry sediment. The overall 28-day NOEC of Chimexane NB in this sediment spiked study is ≥ 1000 mg/kg dry sediment, the highest tested dose. The key value for chemical safety assessment is a NOECstandard of 2083 mg/kg dwt, calculated by conversion of NOEC experiment to a standard organic carbon content.

Additional information

One reliable study is available for toxicity to sediment-dwelling organisms of CHIMEXANE NB. The study is classified as reliable without restrictions. The test was performed according to the OECD 218 guideline.

Under the conditions of this study, the 28d-NOEC was determined to be 1000 mg/kg dry sediment based on the emergence ratio and the development rate. For the purposes of chemical safety assessment, the NOECexperiment from freshwater sediment test is converted to a standard sediment, which is defined as a sediment with an organic carbon content of 5.0%. Considering the organic carbon content of 2.4% in the experiment sediment, the NOECstandard is calculated from NOECexperiment as following: NOECstandard = NOECexperiment x (Focsediment, standard / Focsediment, experiment) NOECstandard = 1000 x (0.05 / 0.024) = 2083 mg/kg dwt
