Description of key information

Hydrolytically stable; expert statement (Reimer, 2004)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life for hydrolysis:
1 yr
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

Based on the hydrolytic stability of 3-chloro-o-xylene, a regioisomer of the registered substance, and the Hammett structure-activity relationship regarding the electron donating effect of meta- and para-methyl groups on an aromatic ring, it was concluded that the registered substance would be hydrolytically stable (half-life > 1 year at 25 °C) under the OECD guideline hydrolysis test conditions (5 days at 50 ° C at pH 4, 7 and 9).
