Additional information

Skin irritation

No data are available for the reaction product. However, in a key EpiDerm skin corrosion/irritation in vitro test (OECD 431/439) with the main component of the reaction mass, i.e. 2-(2-Methylallyl)-cyclododecanon (CAS 62599-49-9), no skin irritation potential has been observed (BASF 2014; 61V0738/13A417).

Eye irritation

No data are available for the reaction product. However, in an Bovine Corneal Opacity and Permeability in vitro test for identifying ocular corrosives and severe irritants (OECD 437) with the main component of the reaction mass, i.e. 2-(2-Methylallyl)-cyclododecanon (CAS 62599-49-9), no corrosive or severely irritating potential has been observed (BASF 2014; 63V0738/13A419). Furthermore, no eye irritation potential has been observed for this component in an EpiOcular™ eye irritation in vitro test (BASF 2014; 62V0738/13A418). Overall in a weight of evidence, the compound 2-(2-Methylallyl)-cyclododecanon is considered to be not irritating to the eye.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The present data on skin and eye irritation do not fulfill the criteria laid down in 67/548/EEC and regulation (EU) 1272/2008, and therefore, a non-classification is warranted.
