Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Effects on fertility

Effect on fertility: via oral route
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Effect on fertility: via inhalation route
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Effect on fertility: via dermal route
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information
Justification for selection of Effect on fertility via oral route:
Oral route is not relevant exposure route. Inhalation is the most relevant exposure route since the target substance decomposes in use applications releasing volatile and hazardous substance, CS2.

Justification for selection of Effect on fertility via inhalation route:
The hazards of the most critical decomposition product (CS2) are taken into account in HA and CSA as it is released from the target substance in use applications from xanthate water solutions .

Justification for selection of Effect on fertility via dermal route:
Not likely exposure route.

Effects on developmental toxicity

Effect on developmental toxicity: via oral route
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Effect on developmental toxicity: via inhalation route

Justification for classification or non-classification

The weight of evidence on decomposition of the target substance and the measured and estimated exposure of workers during mining application indicates safe use of the substance. Based on this data there is currently no need for classification of potassium isoamyl xanthate concerning toxicity to reproduction or teratogenicity according to the CLP Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and EU Directive 67/548/EEC.
