Description of key information

The ready biodegradability of ethyl methyl carbonate was determined in GLP-study following a method very similar to OECD guideline 301C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Under the conditions of the study, 98% biodegradation was achieved after 28 days (passing 60% within 10 days after reaching 10%). Ethyl methyl carbonate can be considered to be readily biodegradable.
