Description of key information

Boiling point of 2-Chlorobutane is 68 °C (1 atm)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
68 °C

Additional information

In two peer-reviewed handbooks (CRC-Handbook & The Merck Index) 2 -Cholorbutane is reported to have a boiling point of 68 °C at 1 atm (760 mm Hg) repectively 754 mm Hg. Consequently, the boiling point of 2-chlorobutan can be considered to be reliably at 68 °C at 1 atm. This is supported by the boiling point-value reported by Riddick et al. being 68.25 °C at 1 atm.
